Day 251 – Week 36 at a glance

Having a Heart in a Sometimes Heartless World

Scripture focus: “… it is God who works in you (me) to will and to act according to his good purpose.” (Philippians 2:13 NIV)

This week we’ve begun our study of the fruit of the Spirit. Hopefully, this will inspire us to take the necessary hard steps to keep ourselves well nourished, watered, exercised, rested and worked so that we can bear this good fruit. Currently in our community we’re in the midst of a late summer drought. Our lawns are brown and crunchy; our flowers and shrubs are withering. The plants that survive this dry season will be the ones that have deep roots.

My prayer for all of us is that we will continue to allow our roots to grow deep so that we might thrive in season – and out of season! Next week we’ll continue on with our study of Galatians 5 and those tasty fruits!

You have completed 252 of 366 days of devoted devotional reading. We are way more than halfway! Keep going, and may you find your way back to God and discover your true, God-created identity along the way!

Recommended reading: Isaiah 1, 2 in the morning; 2 Corinthians 9, 10 in the evening
