Day 339 – God’s Prevailing Purposes

Having a Heart in a Sometimes Heartless World

Scripture focus: In a dream, they were warned not to report back to Herod. So they worked out another route, left the territory without being seen, and returned to their own country. After the scholars were gone, God's angel showed up again in Joseph's dream and commanded, "Get up. Take the child and his mother and flee to Egypt. Stay until further notice. Herod is on the hunt for this child, and wants to kill him." Joseph obeyed. He got up, took the child and his mother under cover of darkness. They were out of town and well on their way by daylight. They lived in Egypt until Herod's death. This Egyptian exile fulfilled what Hosea had preached: "I called my son out of Egypt." Matthew 2:12-15 The Message

Here’s another thing I don’t want any of us forget: God will neither leave nor forsake us.

We may choose to jump onto the highway and follow the crowd – but God will be undeterred in loving us.

Perhaps there are some hard truths you have to tell yourself about how you’ve lived this year. Maybe you feel a little embarrassed and a lot ashamed.

Just remember – God is completely committed to you. He desires for each of us to experience his promises and fulfill our potential. Both of these can only be acquired along the road less traveled.

May you consider carefully the road you’re taking. May you listen for the voice of God, and step as he speaks. Anything less is just following the crowd.
